lightdm-gtk-greeter software package provides simple display manager (GTK+ greeter), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install lightdm-gtk-greeter
lightdm-gtk-greeter is installed in your system.
Make ensure the lightdm-gtk-greeter package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep lightdm-gtk-greeter *
You will get with lightdm-gtk-greeter package name, version, architecture and description in a table
